Utilizing a daily diary methodology, 86 nurses from diverse hospital settings documented their work experiences for 10 days in a row, resulting in 860 records. Multilevel modeling research indicated a positive link between daily perceived autonomy support and prosocial impact and daily meaningful work, which served as a mediator for their influence on work engagement. The presence of a prosocial orientation significantly augmented the positive relationship between daily perceptions of prosocial impact and daily experiences of meaningful work. Autonomy orientation, however, negatively moderated the impact of daily autonomy support on daily meaningful work, highlighting the need to differentiate between support for autonomy and its active assertion.
