To locate relevant information, we conducted a comprehensive search across PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, China Biology Medicine disc, Wanfang Data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and China Science and Technology Journal, encompassing the period from their inception to April 13, 2022. Included in the analysis were randomized controlled trials where mindfulness-based interventions were given to lung cancer patients, and results on anxiety, depression, and fatigue were detailed. Independent reviews of abstracts and full texts, followed by data extraction and independent bias assessments using the Cochrane 'Risk of bias assessment tool', were conducted by two researchers. Review Manager 54 facilitated the meta-analysis, and the effect size was subsequently calculated by the standardized mean difference and its 95% confidence interval.
Compared to the systematic review's inclusion of 25 studies (2420 participants), the meta-analysis examined 18 studies (1731 participants). A noteworthy reduction in anxiety levels was observed following mindfulness-based interventions, with a standardized mean difference of -1.15 (95% confidence interval: -1.36 to -0.94), a high Z-score of 10.75, and a statistically significant p-value (p < 0.0001). Patients with advanced-stage lung cancer, participating in structured programs (e.g., mindfulness-based stress reduction, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy) lasting less than eight weeks and incorporating 45 minutes of daily home practice, experienced more favorable outcomes compared to those with mixed-stage lung cancer in programs exceeding eight weeks with less structured components and extended home practice sessions exceeding 45 minutes daily. Poor allocation concealment, lack of blinding, and a substantial high risk of bias (80%) in the majority of studies ultimately reduced the overall quality of the evidence.
Mindfulness-based interventions may prove beneficial in alleviating anxiety, depression, and fatigue experienced by individuals diagnosed with lung cancer. Definitive conclusions are not possible, owing to the poor overall quality of the presented evidence. To ascertain the intervention components with the strongest impact on improved outcomes, more rigorous investigations are needed to affirm the effectiveness of the approach.

A developing country's public and universal healthcare system was examined to investigate if the trend of breast biopsies and their direct costs altered in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A retrospective, ecological study of mammograms and breast biopsies from women 30 years and older, sourced from an open-access dataset of the Brazilian Public Health System, tracked time series trends from 2017 to the conclusion of July 2021.
A substantial decline of 409% in mammograms and 79% in breast biopsies was observed in 2020, in comparison to the pre-pandemic period. Over the period 2017 to 2020, there was a marked escalation in the breast biopsy rate per mammogram, rising from 137% to 255%, a comparable growth in the percentage of BI-RADS IV and V mammograms, increasing from 079% to 114%, and a concurrent increase in the annual direct costs of breast biopsies, rising from 3,477,410,000 to 7,334,910,000 Brazilian Reais.
